In order to share your work with the class, you will prepare a short 5-7-minute presentation summarizing the most important parts of your paper. This presentation should be a 3-page (double-spaced) version of your paper that includes a short introduction, your thesis statement, and one point of analysis (that is, one close-reading of a section of the novel/graphic novel). You may read this to the class or prepare a more informal, extemporaneous version. If you are working on Option C, you may demo your project to the class after a brief introduction. Your presentation should include:
- A short intro (one paragraph) culminating in your thesis (e.g. Using a ___ lens, I argue that ______ because _____).
- One point of significant textual analysis supporting your point. This should be a section of your paper where you perform (in your opinion) the strongest close-reading of the text. For Option C: read or show us a short demo of your work
- A short conclusion. What do we learn by focusing on the text from this angle? How does it change or add to our reading in interesting ways?
All of these sections can and should be adapted from your final paper, though keep in mind the presentation should be cohesive, so it’s not enough to simply read the first 3 pages of the paper.
